A PART OF OUR HOLISTIC EDUCATION

Promotion of musical
talents at Urspring.

The musical talents of our pupils are encouraged both inside and outside the classroom. All children and teens have the opportunity to sing in the school choir. Anyone who plays an instrument is welcome to join the instrumental ensemble. We also offer singing and instrumental lessons, the latter in cooperation with the Blaubeuren-Schelklingen-Laichingen Music School directly on site in Urspring. The choir and the instrumental ensemble regularly perform at church services and events in Urspring.

In the profile subject, school children in Years 5 and 6 deepen their knowledge of drama and choral singing. Traditionally, they perform a classical or modern nativity play at the Advent service. Every two years, a musical or singspiel is performed at the summer festival, most recently (in 2023) the "Magic Flute" by W. A. Mozart in an adaptation for children.

At Urspring, we firmly believe that musical education is essential for the personal development of young people and that music can create a communicative level alongside the spoken word. With this in mind, it is important to us at Urspring that pupils also engage in musical activities outside the compulsory music lessons. Because, as Leonard Bernstein put it: "Nothing can contribute more to the understanding of music than sitting down and making music yourself."
